DAY 1 LIBERTY OF THE SEAS

Carol and I got to the port at the perfect time. I left her with the suitcases and parked the car and walked over to her so we could go inside together. As we were going up the escalator I spotted Royce and Joel on line to go through security. Got through security in a breeze and the line to get on the ship was very long. It really makes no sense to have priority check-in and then no priority boarding. As we walked over to the line they got clearance to get on the ship but we had to get on the line and walk the walk. We had already said we would all meet in the Windjammer but Carol and I went to the cabin to drop off our hand luggage and we met Levi our cabin steward. As we were walking across the deck to go to the buffet Royce called and told us they already had a table in the back. Had a salad for lunch (trying to be good) but probably ruined it with dessert. Went to check out our table in the dining room and decided to change for one closer to the door to make it easy for Gail (she has foot problems). As we were waiting to talk to one of the head honchos I got hot and nauseous and ran to the bathroom. My face looked like I had spent 5 hours in the sun. I put cold water on my face to cool it down; felt a little better and went back in. The maitre d' was nice and he gave us a table right in front.Royce joined us and we checked out the casino, the ice rink and the ship in general and went back to the cabin. I still wasn't up to par and tried to go to sleep but that never happened. When we went to the life boat drill and I walked outside the heat just got me me again and I went inside by the schooner bar and one of the personnel got me a bag of ice and took my card to have me checked off as at the drill. I waited for Carol and we met everyone at the equivalent to the Cafe Promenade. I don't remember what it is on this ship but will let you know later. Royce got a few sandwiches for the table and I had an egg salad sandwich and delicious pound cake. Feed me food and I'll always forget how lousy I feel.As we left the port it was a beautiful scene looking back at Miami at the skyline. I ran to get my camera and I couldn't take a picture because the lens kept on fogging up. Got ready for the show (there is only one on embarkation day) and the comedian was Rick Corso (he was on the last cruise). Tomorrow the entertainment is Tony Tillman and he is very good so I'm looking forward to seeing him. Dinner was good but the service could've been better. I asked if we could have bread sticks tomorrow and it will not be a problem so I'm a happy camper. Tomorrow is escargot night so we all know I'm very happy. After dinner we went to watch the parade on the Royal Promenade and then went to the casino. It is now 12:45 AM and I'm really tired as I didn't sleep much last night. While we were waiting for the parade to start we noticed they had taken Enid's job away from her and someone had already changed the day to Sunday in the elevators. It was only 10:45 and they're taking all this time away from us. At this rate they will convince it's Saturday and it will only be Wednesday.
